Smoke-Fired Vessel
The process of pit firing has created a beautiful pattern on the raw clay of this unglazed pot. During this slow, smoldering process, marks of the fire are imprinted in unique flashes of iron, pinks, maroons with black lines and spots on the surface of the vase. Results are unpredictable and varied, so each piece carries an individual record of its experience in the fire. This process has been used for centuries, particularly by the Native Americans. It measures 7 in. x 6 in.
